Or, if as Mr. Dirk Calloway suggests below, it was just lifted wholesale from the stage show. It's strange to me, as I would have though Spielberg is one of the few directors who could have pushed for that, if he really wanted to.

In any case, "War Horse" is merely one ofAndyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03580990585268942818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-439753875231153247.post-34281853763201976452012-02-01T09:53:14.847+13:002012-02-01T09:53:14.847+13:00Yes, but herein lies the wonderful difference betw...Yes, but herein lies the wonderful difference between films and stage-shows: films allow the use of subtitles. I have zero issues with plays or novels having the non-English speaking characters speaking English as they are entirely necessary devices. However, film allows these characters to speak in their own language, while allowing the audience to still understand what they're saying. I quite liked the technique in the show, and in the movie, because it blurred the lines a bit between "the good guys" and "the bad guys". Too often in war movies "the good guys" are the Daniel McClellandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07365505463057358772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-439753875231153247.post-45318209036355967342012-01-30T23:07:22.096+13:002012-01-30T23:07:22.096+13:00Excellent Post, upon reflection your point about t...Excellent Post, upon reflection your point about the English Language issues are bang on, it’s got to be an audience accessibility issue, the reality is some viewers (fat America) are turned off when they are made to read. This combined with the films generally crap-ness really contribute to the argument Spielberg is either had brain fade or is in the middle of some mid-career crisis.
Theater of the Common Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09873985402313667607noreply@blogger.com
